In this article, I will show you step by step how to easily and quickly sew a hidden zipper on a supplex bodysuit. Even for many experienced craftsmen, it is not always possible to sew a zipper neatly the first time and have to rip off and stitch again. And with the help of my method, you will succeed the first time.

Processing the bottom of the zipper
Before sewing on a zipper, I always process the bottom of the zipper with a supplex. And for this I prepared a small piece of supplex.
At the end of the zipper on the wrong side, I attached a piece of supplex with a pin (with the front side inward) so that its ends went around the zipper braid itself and fixed it with a straight line on the sewing machine.
I turned the supplex on the front side, and then bent the zippers to the front side.
I secured it with a straight stitch on the sewing machine and cut off the excess fabric.
Finishing the bottom of the hidden zipper is not necessary, especially if you are sewing a suit for yourself, but the zipper looks much prettier this way.
Attaching the hidden zipper
According to the rules of sewing technology, you must first stitch together two parts of the back of the bodysuit along the center line and only then sew on the zipper. But in this case, it is very difficult to carefully sew a hidden zipper on the supplex. The supplex is stretched, and as a result, after attaching the zipper, an ugly tissue bubble is obtained in the lower part.
So I make things easier. I first stitch the zipper, and only then grind the middle cut of the back. This can be done not only in sewing a supplex bodysuit, but also in any other product.
On the wrong side, on the two back parts of the bodysuit, I marked with chalk where the zipper would end.
The front side of the zipper was aligned with the front side of the back of the bodysuit along the cut. I pinned one braid with pins and then secured it with a straight seam on a sewing machine. Remember that a hidden zipper should only be sewn when open, never try to sew it closed.
If you do not have a special foot for attaching a hidden zipper, then it can be replaced with a single-legged foot, which is always included with the sewing machine.
Then she zipped up again and pinned a second braid along the cut. Then she unzipped the zipper again and secured the braid with a straight machine stitch.
Then I combined the two sections of the back parts of the bodysuit and stitched them with a knitted seam on a sewing machine. I always start stitching from the top, starting from the end of the stitching line of the zipper braid.
The zipper tape should be fastened with a straight stitch or a zigzag seam on the cuts of the bodysuit so that they do not hang out.
That’s all! My hidden zipper is ready.
It is much easier to sew a hidden zipper this way, especially if you are new to sewing. Since the most problematic part in attaching a hidden zipper is the lower part, where the zipper itself ends and the middle back seam begins. If you do everything according to the rules of sewing technology, then first you need to stitch the middle cut of the back, then sew on the zipper and only then pull the slider into the hole between the middle seam and the end of the zipper. But in this case, very often a tubercle is obtained at the beginning of the middle suture. And this tubercle spoils the appearance of the product. And when using this method, everything will be beautiful and neat.
