Preparing the collar
The supplex collar is the most common type of collar in gymnastic suits. It is used in rhythmic gymnastics, sports dancing, aerial gymnastics, etc.
I build and process the collar in the same way, both in a women’s swimsuit and in a men’s bodysuit.
I cut out a collar from a blue supplex. Transferred all the control points from the patterns to the fabric.
On the patterns, my collar is 2 cm longer than the neck of the bodysuit. This extra 2 cm is needed for the fastening.
I folded the collar in half with the right side inward and pinned the places where you need to sew on the sewing machine with pins.
Stitched with a straight stitch on a sewing machine. And at the end of the seam, I marked the corner with chalk.
Then I cut off the extra cut 0.1 - 0.3 cm from the seam. Notice how I cut off the cut with a corner. It can be cut evenly, but it is more convenient to sew the collar into the neck.
On the other side of the collar, I also cut off an extra cut by 0.1 - 0.3 cm.
Turned the collar right side out.
I chopped the collar along the entire length with pins so that the cuts of the collar would not move during the process.
In the process of sewing, the control point of the middle of the neck, marked with chalk, was erased, so I marked it again.
I connected the collar with the neck of the bodysuit. First, I combined the control points of the middle of the collar and the middle of the neck, the remaining length of the collar was evenly distributed along the length of the neck.
She swept the collar into the neck with a temporary stitch.
Stitched the collar on an overlock sewing machine.
I covered the ugly ends of the zipper with a piece of supplex. To do this, I cut off a biflex about 4 X 4 cm in size.
I pinned the supplex with the right side inward to the ends of the zipper.
I fixed it with a straight seam, you can use a seam for knitwear.
Turned the supplex on the front side.
Then she went around the seam for sewing the collar into the neck. Thus covering the ugly part of the sections of the zipper. If the zipper was the same color as the fabric of the bodysuit, then it would not stand out so much and would look prettier.
Then I fixed it with a straight seam on the sewing machine and cut off the extra cut 0.1 - 0.3 cm from the seam. This seam can also be replaced with a knitted seam.
It remains only to sew two sewn-on buttons. Buttons with a diameter of 1.3 cm were sewn manually in 4 threads. Previously, I marked with chalk the location of the buttons on the collar.
That’s all! My collar is ready.
The process of sewing a collar into the neck takes very little time and anyone with no sewing experience can handle it.
