How to Sew: Men’s Silver Mirrored Bomber Jacket

In this article, I will tell and show you how to sew a men’s bomber jacket with a silver mirror decor. This bomber jacket was commissioned by the artist, who bought a nude swimsuit with silver decor from me (you can see it HERE. She liked it very much and decided to order a bomber jacket for her husband, which had to be combined with her swimsuit, since they are both trainers and perform together in the arena in the attraction with white tigers.

Preparation of the picture

Since the artist is in Lithuania, I could not take the measurements I needed myself, in such cases I send the artists a table with the measurements I need, which they must fill out. After the artists sent me measurements, I built the bomber design. Then I cut out two shelves, a back and two sleeves according to the finished patterns. I cut geometric shapes of different sizes from silver lacquer, which I will then lay out beautifully, according to the sketch on the details of the front, back and sleeves.

Tailoring

We do not grind the cut out details of the front, back and sleeves yet. First, we glue all the geometric silver details on the supplex, for this I use UHU fabric glue.

After the glue had dried, I sewed the silver details on the sewing machine. I prefer to sew this material on a Juki industrial sewing machine for heavy fabrics, and not on a home sewing machine, in order to get better stitching. This material can be stitched with any thread, but it is most beautifully obtained with thick threads for jeans or leather. I also use the needle for leather, and I also use a Teflon foot, it glides better over the fabric.

Then I sewed on the overlock sewing machine the details of the shelf with the back along the side and shoulder seams, then I sewed the sleeves.

After that, I swept the zipper, and then sewed it in such a way that the zipper links were not visible from the front side of the product. I use a single foot to attach the zipper.

After that, I zigzag stitched the bottom of the bomber jacket, the bottom of the sleeves and finished the neckline.

Pasting with rhinestones

The bomber jacket is completely sewn and now you can move on to pasting with rhinestones. I prefer to use hot fix rhinestones, which I apply with a hot-melt applicator. This bomber jacket has 2270 rhinestones.

That’s it, the bomber jacket for the tiger trainer is ready.

If you make such a bomber jacket without rhinestones and from black knitwear, change the decor pattern a little, for example, make the head of some predator: a lion, wolf or tiger out of silver details, then such a bomber jacket can be worn in everyday life.
